The Best Z-Wave Sirens On The Market!

Last updated: September 10, 2024 by Patrick Sinclair Leave a Comment

Sirens are part of a good security system. It notifies you if there is a potential security problem. There are several technologies that allow you to connect your siren to your home automation systems so that it could work with other connected devices such as smart locks, sensors, and others. Z-wave is one of these technologies. Best Z-wave sirens connect to your Z-wave hubs, making it possible for you to control them using your smartphones.

Z-wave sirens help keep you and your family safe. If your security system detects a threat and you do not have your smartphone with you, a siren can alert everyone to a potential security problem. Not only that but having a Z-wave siren could also scare away would-be burglars.

So if you have a Z-wave hub, what are the best Z-wave sirens you can buy?

Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm

The Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm is a circular alarm that measures 4.38 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches thick. It weighs 226.80 grams, with the power adaptor included. The Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm is very loud at 110 decibels, but even deaf people will be notified with its flashing strobe lights when it is activated. You can choose one of three modes: siren, strobe, or both strobe and siren.

You can power the Fortrezz siren by plugging it into any wall outlet. But if you need more flexibility in placement, you can place the siren just about anywhere by using a 9-volt battery. One thing about the Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm is that it is tamper-proof. When you have it plugged into a power outlet and somebody disconnects it, it will sound an alarm using the battery backup.

The Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm plays well with other devices as it is intended to work with Z-wave security and home automation devices.

This siren integrates well with:

  • Nexia Home Intelligence
  • Alarm.com
  • Honeywell
  • Samsung SmartThings
  • 2Gig
  • Fibaro
  • Cor Home Automation
  • Vera
  • Zipato
  • Piper
  • Wink
  • Securenet
  • HomeSeer

Lastly, the Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm also acts as a Wi-Fi signal repeater, extending the reach of your Wi-Fi signal. You can see the lights on your Fortrezz siren from 100 feet away. This siren has an operating temperature range of -10 to 70 degrees Celsius.

Everspring SE812 Indoor Siren

The Everspring SE812 Indoor Siren keeps things simple by emitting an audible sound and lighting the red LED light when the sensor is tripped. You can adjust the loudness of the siren between 90 decibels and 100 decibels. There is also a tamper alarm, making sure that you are notified when somebody tries to cut the main power supply.

The Everspring SE812 Indoor Siren is powered either by four 1.5-volt alkaline batteries, LR14 C-cell or by plugging it in. There is a low battery indicator on the device itself, allowing you to know if you need to change the battery.

This rectangular indoor siren measures 3.15 inches wide by 6.10 inches tall and 1.97 inches thick. It has an operating temperature of -10 to 40 degrees Celsius. It weighs 680 grams without batteries.

GoControl WA105DBZ-1 Z-Wave Siren and Strobe

Get it from Amazon

If you are looking for a loud and bright alarm, then the GoControl WA105DBZ-1 Z-Wave Siren and Strobe is your best bet. This Z-wave siren and strobe have very loud sound at 105 decibels, while the strobe includes four white LEDs. You get 360 lumens, which is as bright as a 35-watt bulb. You can choose to be alerted by strobe only if you do not want to be startled by the loud sound. Or you can be alerted by siren only, or the siren and strobe together.

The GoControl WA105DBZ-1 Z-Wave Siren and Strobe needs to be plugged in, with four AA alkaline batteries working as the backup. It has an operating temperature range of -15 to 60 degrees Celsius and a line of sight of about 100 feet.

This works with certified Z-wave systems. It measures 4.7 inches wide by 5.4 inches high and 3.4 inches thick. It weighs 45.36 grams without the batteries.

Aeotec Siren 5 and Aeotec Siren 6

Get it from Amazon

Aeotec Siren 6 promises to make your home secure, safe, and smart. The Aeotec Siren 6 may be monitored remotely or you can monitor it yourself. It has 15 pre-set tones that will sound if there is a break in. And because it is very loud at 110 decibels, it is enough to scare off potential burglars, while also alerting everyone inside the house and even your neighbors.

And if you cannot hear the siren, then you would still be alerted because of the strobe lights. These are very bright lights with 1,000 lumens of brightness.

The Aeotec Siren 6 is not only for your alarm system. It can work with other devices to help keep you safe. For instance, it can alert you if your smoke detector senses smoke and possibly fire. Or it can check your leak detectors to alert you if there is a possibility that you might have a potential flooding problem.

The Siren 6 is very easy to set up and is marketed by Aeotec as the most connected alert system. It has an optional Button accessory that allows you to use it as a doorbell.

The Aeotec Siren 6 comes with a backup battery that will allow it to alert you even when the power is out. The battery can give you up to four hours of power even if there is an electricity outage in your area. It is also constantly charging, so you can be sure that it will work as promised.

Aeotec Siren 6 is literally a plug and play device. You just plug it into a nearby power source and then synchronize it with your Z-wave system. The problem is that the Aeotec Siren 6 is not yet available, which means you will need to wait for it to come out. You can, however, get the Siren 5 now.

The Aeotec Siren 5 works pretty much like the Siren 6 but it is only 105 decibels loud and the strobe lights emit only 210 lumens. The Siren 5 works with certified Z-wave products, such as:

  • Samsung SmartThings
  • Fibaro
  • Indigo
  • Vera
  • openHAB
  • Wink
  • HomeSeer
  • Piper

As you can see, all of these sirens offer both sound and lights to help keep you safe and secure. Similarly, all of these sirens are quite loud, suitable for indoor use, and tamper-proof. Even if a would-be thief is able to cut the power to your house, these sirens will still be able to sound the alarm!

There aren’t too many differences among these sirens, but the little things might help you decide depending on what you need.

If you live in places with colder climates, you might want to go for GoControl’s Z-wave siren because it can withstand below freezing temperature more than the others. If you are looking for the cheapest, then you should go for the Everspring SE812 Indoor Siren. Meanwhile, the Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm is the loudest of these four, but you will need to check first if it is compatible with your Z-wave system.

While all of these are more than what you can ask for from a Z-wave siren, Fortrezz, GoControl, and Aeotec sirens also act as a Wi-Fi signal repeater, which is extremely useful in mesh networks. These sirens allow you to bring Internet connectivity to devices that are placed further away from your router.

If you can, however, wait for the Aeotec Siren 6, then you might want to hold off buying a Z-wave siren until it comes out to the market. Aeotec Siren 6 delivers everything you would like about the Fortrezz Z-Wave Siren and Strobe Alarm, Everspring SE812 Indoor Siren, GoControl WA105DBZ-1 Z-Wave Siren and Strobe, and Aeotec Siren 5. Plus it improves on it, by making it easier to install your siren and having brighter strobe lights and a louder alarm.
