How to Stand Much Longer: The Ultimate Wurf Board Review

Last updated: September 17, 2024 by Patrick Sinclair Leave a Comment

Many people would attest that standing desks are great and are very beneficial.  For one, standing desks allow you to work without sitting, which can be bad for your posture and your back and can make you feel lethargic and restless.  Sitting for long periods can also be detrimental to your health in the long run.

Standing, on the other hand, can help you prevent a host of health problems such as high cholesterol, obesity, and certain heart ailments.  As such, some work places have introduced standing desks for their employees.

The problem is that some people might find standing too long very uncomfortable and tiring.  It can lead to stiff legs, feet, neck, and lower back.  This is where the Wurf Board comes in.

What is the Wurf Board?

The Wurf Board is an air spring platform that helps support you while you’re standing.  It cushions your feet when you are standing and it encourages the user to constantly make small movements.  This will ensure improved
blood flow.

With better blood circulation, you can stand more comfortably for longer periods of time.  And because you are moving constantly and continuously, the Wurf Board also helps improve your posture and makes your feet stronger, along with your back, core, and legs.

It is also classified as an anti-fatigue mat, making you less tired because of the cushioning effect it has on your legs and feet.  The Wurf Board can help you stand longer than when you stand on hard floors.

Additionally, instead of making you feel lethargic and restless, the Wurf Board makes you feel more alert and can even help you focus on your tasks, therefore helping you improve your productivity, too.

In short, the Wurf Board gives your bored feet something to do while also helping them relax.

Sizes and design

There are four sizes available for the Wurf Board.  You have the:

Design Dimensions Max Load Price Weight
Santa Cruz Small 28.3″ x 14.2″ Up to 200 lbs. (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) 1.6 lbs.
Santa Cruz Medium 30.9″ x 16.7″ Up to 250 lbs. (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) 1.9 lbs.
Santa Cruz Large 32.9″ x 17.7″ Up to 300 lbs. (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) 2.2 lbs.
Maui Medium 30.6″ x 16.6″ Up to 350 lbs. (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) 3.0 lbs.

As such, there is a Wurf Board for every size and every budget.

The Santa Cruz edition makes use of different shades of brown and white in its design, with a strong straight line and several curved lines giving it a distinct retro look.  Meanwhile, the Maui line makes use of abstract and wavy patterns.  The Maui line comes in brown Kona Coffee and Ocean Blue colors.

The Maui line also has two layers for the surface, making it more durable.  The bottom is slightly curved, so that you can rock from side to side, helping you burn more calories in the process.

All Wurf Boards have high-curved edges, allowing you to give yourself a foot massage while also letting you to do some stretches for your lower legs.

All boards are very light, making it easy for you to move your Wurf Board out of the way when you want to sit down.  You can just push it aside with your feet instead of bend down and pick it up.

Moreover, the board’s surface is fully customizable. You can make it as bouncy or as firm as you need it to be.  It also has a non-slip design for the bottom so that it doesn’t slip out no matter the floor type you set it on.

You canuse Wurf Boards barefooted or with shoes, but you cannot wear stiletto heels when using it.

Benefits of using the Wurf Board

Made safe and strong.  The Wurf Board is designed to be safe.  With its no-slip bottom, you can be sure that the board grips the floor.  You can even jump onto the board and it will not slip off.

The Wurf Board is made of top quality materials and even its stitching is done even stronger than the stitching you see on inflatables you use in water.

The Wurf Board facilitates “active standing.”  Active standing is when you move while standing.  As opposed to static standing, where no movement occurs while you stand, active standing can help improve your blood circulation and can therefore keep your legs from getting cramps or from going numb.  It makes your heart healthier in the long run.

The Wurf Board helps improve your productivity.  It can be argued that the deleterious effects of static standing or sitting too long can easily be offset by taking short walks or doing some simple exercises.  But even taking a five-minute walk can take you away from work.

With the Wurf Board, you would not need to have these disruptions and distractions, as you can continue working while making sure that you are constantly moving.  The board encourages your body to create subtle movements and to shift and flex your muscles.

That means that you get the benefits of short walks without abandoning whatever task you are working on!

Also, because the Wurf Board allows you to stand for a longer period, you can work more instead of taking frequent sitting breaks, especially if you work exclusively on a standing desk.

The Wurf Board makes it easy for your knees.  The average American employee sits around 13 hours a day.  That’s right; you probably spend more time sitting than you do sleeping.  As a result, your joints are affected by the sedentary sitting.

The good news is that the Wurf Board helps ensure that you are constantly moving, which improves joint and bone health.

Other benefits of active standing and the Wurf Board:

  • Less chances of suffering from back pain.
  • Less chances to be overweight. Employees who sit most of the day are more likely to be obese or overweight.  Also, body fat is burned more when you are standing, whereas you add body fat when you sit all day.
  • Less chances of heart problems.
  • More calories burned.

Some improvements for the Wurf Board

A lot of thought was given into the design and manufacture of the Wurf Board.  Some people find its retro chic, surfboard-like design as cool, but for some people, this doesn’t go well with their office theme.

For more conservative offices that strive to look more professional, having such a standout design for the Wurf Board might be a turn-off.  For instance, if you have carpeted floor, the hardwood-like design of the Wurf Board will stand out like a sore thumb.

A Wurf Board design that easily blends with office interiors would be a good addition to the different design lines that the Wurf Board currently has.

Maintenance and what’s in the box?

Along with your Wurf Board, you will also get an air pump, a manual, and valve cover.  You need to remember to inflate your Wurf Board once a month to replace the air that is normally lost.  You can also clean your Wurf Board using sponge and soap.

Alternatives to the Wurf Board

Standing desks are probably one of the trends that you would see more in the future.  And with more and more people being in desk-based jobs and with more and more people becoming health-conscious, the Wurf Board has a growing niche market.

Not to mention the fact that the Wurf Board promises to make working at standing desks more comfortable while also bringing in more of the health benefits of active standing.  This also means that there is no shortage of competing products.

There’s the Ergodriven Topo (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) has an overall flat surface with contoured features that your feet can play with.  It is light and very easy to clean.  The Topo can help lessen pressure on your legs, shoulders, heels, and back.

You can also check out the Imprint CumulusPro Commercial Couture Strata, which sells (For the latest prices and discounts, check here) on Amazon.  It is wider than most anti-fatigue mats.  It feels very firm and is generally better-looking than most other mats.

Meanwhile, the SmartCells Anti-Fatigue Mat is much firmer than other mats, but is more comfortable than standing on hard floors. It also costs less than the Imprint CumulusPro.

These three alternatives may give you a more cost-effective anti-fatigue mat, but these mats are made of polyurethane and are generally very rigid.  The Wurf Board, with its air-spring construction, is much more comfortable and allows for small movements, which gives you more health benefits.

Final say on the Wurf Board

Most adults spend most of their waking time working. While the Wurf Board does have a higher price tag, it more than makes up for it with its use of high-quality materials and stitching, which make it very durable and strong.

It is much more comfortable and delivers more health benefits than the competition.  It is a great investment for those who are working at standing desks!
